Five Star Shipping & Agency Company Pty Ltd was the first Sino-Australian joint venture established in Australia on the 1st October 1980 by COSCO and Burns Philp Ltd. In January 1994 it became a subsidiary of COSCO and since October 1995.

Five Star Shipping & Agency Company Pty Ltd is the sole agent of COSCO container liner services in Australia. At present, COSCO operates two fixed schedule container lines in Australia, the first is the Sino - Australia line: Shanghai - Xiamen - Huangpu - Hong Kong - Sydney - Melbourne - Brisbane - Hong Kong and the second is the Japan - Korea - Australia line: Yokohama - Osaka - Nagoya - Pusan - Keelung - Hong Kong- Sydney - Melbourne - Brisbane. COSCO's global network covers more than 1,200 ports all over the world and with more than one hundred voyages annually it can deliver cargoes to any city in the world. Five Star Shipping & Agency Company Pty Ltd has an annual turnover of more than 120,000 TEU between Australia and Japan, Korea, China and other destinations of the world.
